MacDrive does the same job just fine on 64-Bit Windows.īut seeing how buggy and incompatible Snow Leopard in general is, my over-all experience is that Vista 64 provides a better user experience on Apple hardware than Apple's own operating system. The Boot Camp 3 installer aborts with a "64-bit is not supported on this Mac" message, but when you double click on the actual installer one folder deeper on the Snow Leopard disk, it installs anyway and everything works ok - except for the file system drivers, but that's not because of the machine, but rather because of Apple's lousy implementation. What totally sucks is Apple's artificial restriction to "new" Mac Pros when you use 64-Bit Windows. I don't use Apple's out-dated video drivers, but use the most recent ones from the nVidia website.

I would use Win7 at least half of the time but with poor battery life and considering how much hotter the MB's run under Win7, I may just go with a ThinkPad instead and leave the Mac's running OS X and PC's running Windows.Īnyone else have any overheating issues with Win7? Should I be concerned with long term usage?Īpple's file system drivers (the ones that allow access to the HFS+/OS X partitions) in BootCamp 3 repeatedly caused blue screens in Vista on my Mac Pro. This update is highly recommended for all Boot Camp 3.1 users. This update adds support for the ATI-Radeon HD 5870 graphics card, Apple USB Ethernet Adapter, MacBook Air SuperDrive, and addresses critical bug fixes. I would like to trade up to a 15" notebook for the higher screen resolution and I would love to get another Mac. Boot Camp Software Update 3.2 for Windows 32 bit.

Ive read Bootcamp 1.2 was released so that all the Apple hardware components would work with Vista (AKA driver updates). One thing that still bothers me is how much hotter the MB still runs compared to OS X so I am a little concerned with overheating. So since Bootcamp 3.0 is out whats more sensible to use XP or seven I know originally, Bootcamp was written for Windows XP and everyone (Forumers) said Bootcamp will work best with Windows XP even after Vista came out. It loads in memory but the app never launches. The only application issue so far is Firefox. Battery life is a little better in 3.0 BC over 2.1 but still very poor compared to OS X. Win7 is quite fast and I am impressed with the performance. I went ahead with the 64-bit version of Win7 instead of the 32-bit that is installed on my iMac.

This would be compatible with 32 bit and 64-bit windows.I recently updated my MacBook to 10.6 on and also installed Windows 7 to see how 3.0 BootCamp compares to 2.1. This is complete offline installer and standalone setup for Windows 7.
